Venezuelan coffee may be unfamiliar to many, but it has been quietly producing quality Arabica since the 1800s. This Fine Washed (Lavado Fino) lot is here to reset expectations.
Grown in the Andean regions of Venezuela, this coffee cups remarkably similar to a classic Colombian profile—which makes sense given their shared border and growing conditions. While it doesn’t reach the extreme elevations of some Colombian Excelso or Supremo lots, it more than holds its own in the cup with balance, reliability, and approachability.
What stood out to us immediately was consistency. Across multiple samples, containers, and lots, this coffee delivered the same dependable profile every time—a testament to an experienced exporting partner who clearly knows what they’re doing. It’s a fantastic option for drinkers looking to branch out without straying too far from familiar territory.
Roasted slightly darker, this coffee can comfortably stand in for Colombia or even Brazil, offering a bittersweet cocoa backbone with gentle sweetness and structure. It’s a great fit for those feeling a little adventurous, and an exciting glimpse into what’s ahead as Venezuela’s coffee industry continues its steady resurgence.
