Matt Gibson | Kayak Fisherman
Growing up in central Indiana, Matt has always been passionate about outdoor adventures. With a lifelong connection to the water, he has spent countless hours fishing. One of his favorite activities is introducing people to the accessible and enjoyable sport of kayak fishing.
Q. How did you discover kayak fishing, or what got you into it?
A. I fished out of a boat for years but found myself gravitating toward getting into smaller bodies of water and rivers. I also really enjoyed how the kayak community interacts with each other.
Q. What's the most unusual job you've ever had?
A. Can’t talk about it or I would have to kill you.. lol just kidding. Was probably cleaning out an old chicken farm. I’ll never forget the smell.
Q. If you could go fishing anywhere in the world, where would it be? What would you be fishing for?
A. Flint River in Georgia hands down. They have a very special species of bass called a shoal bass. One of the most beautiful full of hate fish you’ll ever meet.
Q. Do you like light roast or dark roast?
A. Like them both depending on the day.. if I had to choose one it would be dark. I enjoy bolder flavors of about anything.
Q. Dogs or cats?
A. Dogs by a mile.. feel like you never can read what a cats going to do or how it’s going to react.
Q. Would you rather be relaxing by the pool in the sunshine or paddling your ass off in the wind and cold to get to a good fishing spot?
A. Hate the pool.. would rather paddle anywhere, any day, in any conditions than sit next to pool.
