For the Chavarria family, coffee isn’t just a business—it’s a way of life. For 50 years, they’ve been growing exceptional beans, and today, brothers Diego and Leslie are carrying on the tradition at their farm, El Dorado. Gifted to them by their father in the early ’90s, this farm has flourished under their care, evolving into something truly special.

In 2006, they discovered Direct Trade—a game-changer. By cutting out the middleman, they secured prices better than the NYSE, giving them the power to invest back into their farm, their workers, and their community. Thanks to Direct Trade, the brothers have improved working conditions, boosted wages beyond the industry norm, and provided their workers with better food, housing, and education.

El Dorado isn’t just a farm; it’s a home. Over 100 people live here year-round, and the commitment to ethical coffee goes beyond the beans. Young adults gain valuable vocational training, and children grow up in a healthier, more stable environment. Nestled in the lush mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua (700-900 meters above sea level), El Dorado produces top-tier, chemical-free coffee—because great coffee should be good for people and the planet.
